The annual Seminar of the Financial Lawyers Conference for the year 2006 will take place at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort and Spa, Indian Wells, California, on April 21-23, 2006. This year's Seminar topic is Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. The moderator for our Seminar is Professor Robert M. Lawless. Professor Lawless is the Gordon & Silver, Ltd., Professor of Law at the William S. Boyd School of Law of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has written extensively in the fields of bankruptcy and corporate law, with a special emphasis on empirical legal studies. Prior to joining the faculty of the Boyd School of Law, Professor Lawless taught at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In addition, he has held visiting faculty appointments at the University of Illinois, Ohio State University and Washington University in St. Louis. Before teaching, Professor Lawless practiced with the Washington, DC, law firm of Zuckert, Scoutt & Rasenberger and clerked for the Honorable Harlington Wood, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In the summer of 2006, Professor Lawless will join the faculty of the University of Illinois College of Law.
